Little is known of the part played by the
French Navy in World War II. In this book J. Labayle Couhat explains the
tribulations of the French Navy from the fall of France until 1942, when the
French sailors again took part in operations under General De Gaulle's
leadership.
The Main purpose of the book, in common
with the other warhship reference books in this series, is to describe the
ships themselves in detail, listing their salient features, modifications, and
the weapons they carried. This latter section contains much information
hitherto unpublished. Also included is a list of war losses from 1939 to 1945.
The book
is illustrated with over 100 photographs.
